Most people have been affected by cancer in some way. To show support of those fighting or remember those lost, it is common to wear a colored ribbon representing a specific type of cancer. Although the color for each person may be different, the Colors of Courage 5K Run/Walk unites all participants.
To honor those who have been lost to cancer, a balloon release ceremony was held after the 5K Run/Walk. Cancer survivors were also recognized.
Proceeds from the event went to help underinsured patients of the Leonard Lawson Cancer Center. It was a wonderful event that raised money for a great cause. We appreciate Pikeville Medical Center putting on such a exciting race, and we are proud to have been a part of it.
